[ENG] The Divorce Chair is a site-specific installation composed of sixteen identical replicas of a single chair: the very chair on which a decisive conversation unfolded between the artist’s parents fifteen years earlier, leading to their separation. Installed in the same Parisian studio where that moment originally took place, the work reactivates the site as a personal memory, transforming it into a collective embodied experience. In 2025, these sixteen “divorce chairs” were arranged into a cinema space that screened The Failed Holiday: an intimate film by the artist that approaches the subject of divorce. // [NL] The Divorce Chair is een site-specifieke installatie bestaande uit zestien identieke replica’s van één enkele stoel: de stoel waarop vijftien jaar eerder een beslissend gesprek plaatsvond tussen de ouders van de kunstenaar, dat leidde tot een scheiding. Geïnstalleerd in hetzelfde Parijse atelier waar dat moment zich oorspronkelijk voltrok, heractiveert het werk de plek als een persoonlijke herinnering die zich ontvouwt tot een collectieve, belichaamde ervaring. In 2025 werden deze zestien “divorce chairs” opgesteld als een bioscoopruimte waarin De Mislukte Vakantie werd vertoond: een intieme film van de kunstenaar die het thema van de scheiding verder onderzoekt.
